If you can’t donate money, then donate something else!

I’m lying here, covered in blankets and hot water bottles, with nurses at my side. Nope, I’m not sick at all. I’m at UBC doing my first plateletpheresis donation. This is a pretty comfy set-up. I’d take a picture but I’m too tightly wrapped in the blankets. Plus, I don’t think anyone really wants to see a picture of this 😉

I’ve been donating blood for a number of years. It’s one of those things I’ve always wanted to do since childhood. My parents are both lab technologists, and I remember my dad delivering packets of blood to the hospitals when he was on call. I would ask him where all the blood came from, and he’d explain how people donated the blood to help other people who were sick. It always struck me as a good thing to do.
