August Foodie Penpal

The Lean Green Bean

This month was really fun for me.  Due to a little glitch in pairing the Canadian  Foodie Penpals, Lindsay had us send to and receive from the same person.  I was paired up with Ceecee in Vancouver.  Yay!  If I can’t move back to Vancouver yet, the next best thing is to get a package from there.  Ceecee blogs at Within the Kitchen so please go visit her and check out her amazing recipes.  (I’m still not done going through all of them!)

Even Sir Spotacus was impressed with this month’s FPP package!

FPP 1 Chocolate!  I told Ceecee that milk chocolate is my guilty pleasure, even though I’m trying to eat a lot heathier.  She sent this fascinating Belgian chocolate with green tea.  Totally up my alley.  I’m saving that for a special occasion.  I love shopping at Urban Fare as well.  And the Gorp Bar will be awesome after one of my Zombie Runs 🙂

FPP 2One of my favourite parts of the FPP program is getting products that are local to my penpal.  Ceecee went out of her way to find me some awesome stuff.  Bluebarb jam with Vancouver rhubarb and BC blueberries, and fleur de sel from Cobble Hill, BC.  Now I know two more great local food companies.  (And I have an excuse to eat jam, hee, hee ,hee!)

FPP 3 I didn’t even tell Ceecee that I LOVE David’s Tea, and here she sends me a great new flavour to try. Coconut, apple and peppermint tea sounds delicious.  (Insert happy dance)  I’ve only ever cooked with barley once, so I can’t wait to give it a go again. Which, by the way, when are we ever going to get Trader Joe’s in Canada?? And granola will go great with my yogurt breakfasts.

Thank you so much Ceecee for a wonderful FPP package.  It cheered me up after a rough day at work, and I look forward to digging into everything!

The Foodie Penpals program is lots of fun. I could explain all the rules to you, but they’re already all laid out. (Yay for copy and paste.) The program is run by Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean, a blog about food and healthy living. If you’re interested, click on the FPP logo at the beginning of this post or the link down below 🙂

-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal! 
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month. 
-Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian & European residents.  Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. Same with Europeans. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.
